Last time we went through the Traditional Chinese character, 五 , which means number five.

I will go through another number, 四, this time.

Let’s get straight on action.

First stroke

It starts with a simple vertical stroke. Just write from top to bottom as usual.

Second stroke

The second stroke starts horizontally from left to right and then it “breaks” and drops from top to bottom. This type of stroke was discussed when we went through the character, 口.

Third stroke

Now we come to the third stroke. It is a falling leftwards stroke. The stroke starts from the top and falls leftwards until it reaches the bottom to end.

Fourth stroke

The fourth stroke is a falling rightwards stroke. It is very similar to the previous type but it just goes the opposite way. The stroke starts from the top and falls rightwards until it reaches the bottom to end.

Fifth stroke

The fifth and last stroke is a simple horizontal stroke which starts from the left and ends at the right and completes the square.

Have a look again. You probably will find it looks like the Traditional Chinese character, 八 (number eight) trapped by another one, 口 (mouth).

Last time, we wrote the character, 六. We have gone through the Traditional Chinese characters of some numbers from one to ten of various number of strokes now. We will go through the rest in the coming few articles. The subject of this time is the Traditional Chinese character for number five, 五.

It is a simple Chinese character with four simple strokes that we have used in previous articles.

How to write this simple Chinese character

The first stroke is a simple horizontal stroke. So, it is simply the number one and it looks like this:

The second stroke is a vertical stroke that we have used a lot of time. With the second stroke, it becomes:

The third stroke is a bit more complicated. It starts with a horizontal stroke from left to right before it drops to form a connecting vertical stroke. Now it becomes:

We will go through the rest in the coming few articles. The subject of this time is the Traditional Chinese character for number six, 六.

It is a simple Chinese character with four pretty simple strokes that we have used in previous articles.

How to write this simple Chinese character

The first stroke is a simple dot. So, it looks like this:

We have gone through some Traditional Chinese characters for a few numbers of various number of strokes. They are not complicated as you could have seen from the articles. The Traditional Chinese character for number nine, 九 is the subject this time.
It is a simple Chinese character with only two strokes. It is simple but it is not that simple as the second stroke is a bit more complex in structure. It is still an easy-to-learn character though. Let’s get straight on to it now.

How to write this simple Chinese character

The second and last stroke

The first step is to write a falling leftwards stroke. The stroke starts from the top and falls leftwards until it reaches the bottom to end.
It becomes now:
The second and last stroke is a new type of stroke, horizontal and then turn downwards followed by a falling rightwards and finishes with a small “hook” upward. Sounds daunting? Simply follow and write a few times, anyone can master it.
So here is the Traditional Chinese character, 九.
The same writing rules apply — from top to bottom and from left to right.
No new techniques essentially but a new type of stroke and a new character. It is always important to master the basics and build a solid foundation gradually. More Traditional Chinese characters can be learnt quickly with a firm grasp of the basic.

We talked about the Traditional Chinese character for sky, 大 before. It is a simple Chinese character with three strokes.

This time, I will go through a four-stroke Traditional Chinese character, 太, which means “too much”. You might have noticed it is very similar to the character, 大, apart from the small dot on the left part of the character.

It is an easy character to learn. Let’s get straight on to it now.

How to write this simple Chinese character

The first step is to write a horizontal line, a horizontal stroke.

This is essentially the Chinese character for number one, 一.

Remember the Chinese writing rules? It has to be written from left to right.

The next stroke is a falling leftwards stroke. The stroke starts from the top and falls leftwards until it reaches the bottom to end.
